Directors Charles V. Bush is a retired senior corporate executive. In his career, he was Vice President, Business Development, Hughes Electronics Corp.; Senior Vice President, Hughes International; Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ICN Pharmaceuticals; Vice President, Treasurer and Vice President, Corporate Controller of Max Factor & Co.Mr. Bush was also President, Chief Operating Officer and member of the Executive Committee of theBoard of Directors, The Nostalgia Network, a cable television network targeting the older demographic. He finished out his business career as President and Chief Executive Officer of a competitive telecom corporation of which he was a founder. In 1954, Mr. Bush was selected by Chief Justice Earl Warren for appointment as the first African-American Page on Capitol Hill. He graduated from The Air Force Academy in 1963 and was among the first African American cadets to graduate from the Academy. In the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Bush served in Vietnam as an Intelligence Officer, with a fluency in Vietnamese. He holds the Bronze Star Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal, with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He earned a M.A. degree from Georgetown University in International Relations, with a fluency in Russian, and an M.B.A. degree in Finance from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Mr. Bush has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Mutual Life Insurance Co., the American Montessori Society, and the International Executive Council of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association, three years as a member and three years as a Vice President. He is a 25 year member of Financial Executives International (FEI) and is a member of the FEI Diversity Task Force. Mr. Bush is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Maecenas Fund, whose mission is to provide post high school scholarships to students of merit and need from under performing high schools. He has been a Guest Lecturer to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Department of Management. J. Peter Gaskins is founder and Managing Director of Clarion Associates, a consulting firm that works with CEOs and boards of directors on projects including capital markets access, merger and acquisition advice and corporate governance.
In the mid-1980s, Mr. Gaskins was a co-founder and CEO of NatWest Securities USA, helping lead it to become the highest-ranked, internally built, foreign-owned investment bank in the United States. Prior to this, Mr. Gaskins was a consultant with Greenwich Associates, an investment manager and an Institutional Investor All Star-ranked investment analyst. He earned an A.B. degree in Statistics with honors from Harvard University, and an M.B.A. degree in Finance from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Mr. Gaskins also earned a Welding Certificate from Chemeketa Community College, serves on their Welding Curriculum Advisory Committee, and is a certified welder. He has designed, built and raced sports cars competitively at the national level as an amateur. At this stage of his life, he has turned his personal interests to helping the Fund and playing classical piano. Gerard A. Powell is founder and CEO of My Choice Medical, Inc., the country's largest organized provider of cosmetic surgery procedures to the public. Mr. Powell has guided My Choice Medical on a very profitable and rapid growth path from its founding in 2001.
In early 2005, Mr. Powell orchestrated the sale of My Choice Medical to Vertrue Inc., a NASDAQ listed category leader in membership and loyalty programs. Mr. Powell remains CEO of My Choice Medical, continuing to guide it as Vertrue's most profitable and rapidly growing subsidiary. Prior to founding My Choice Medical, Mr. Powell spent his career in entrepreneurial leadership positions, focused on sales, marketing and finance in the real estate and direct response marketing industries. Having achieved business and financial success at an early stage of his life, Mr. Powell devotes his non-business activities to his family and worthy causes to help society, including The Maecenas Fund. |
